A lot of people complain that dating sites or online relationships simply don't work for them. But most of them don't know that there are some rules that you should follow on online dating sites to really standout from rest of the crowd. If you are just like everybody else on the site there is no reason for people to start a conversation with you. One of the hardest part about online dating is getting a response from the person you are interested in. Once you have a response, it is not that hard to take things further from there. Below I have compiled some basic DOs and DON'Ts when it comes to online dating sites.
1. Look professional and decent in your profile
The first thing that everybody is going to see on dating site is your profile. It is very important to have a decent and proper looking profile. Have a nice and clear picture of your face. And take the time to think sweet and interesting things about you that you can put on 'About you' section. Most people start creating profile and leave such information poorly written or simply half empty. Showing that you took the effort to think and writing something interesting on your profile gives an impression that you are thoughtful and educated person.
2. Don't post self taken pictures by a camera phone
Please don't post pictures that you took yourself with a camera phone by the bathroom mirror. No body would want to go out with a person who doesn't even have a single friend or family that can take their picture. It just simply looks so unprofessional. Your picture should not be taken in a bad lighting that makes you look either vary pale or dark. Also don't use pictures where your personal characteristics are hardly visible. If you took an outdoor picture where the scenery is the main focus and you are just a small spec in the corner, then that is not going to work.
If possible have your profile picture that is taken in proper lighting, good posture and with a good camera. Remember these are the only tools you have to impress someone and you can't screw up on these.
3. Please don't act like a gangster and talk like a thug
A lot of guys think that it is impressive and cool to act like a gangster and talk like a thug. However that's exactly the kinda guys that women try to avoid. Most people have already gone through so many of such gangsters in their life and they don't want any more of that. Women want someone who is nice and sweet and can understand them. So if your profile looks like a guy who is more dangerous than sweet, you just lost one more chance of having a relationship.
4. Check your spellings and grammar before posting any messages
Yes, you read it correctly. You should definitely check your spelling and grammar when you write about yourself or send a message to someone interesting. It is one of the most basic things and yet you will find so many people missing this in their dating site profiles. I keep coming back to the same idea, look professional and decent. Being able to write and speak english properly shows that you at least went to high school and know how to read and write. So avoid any short lingo and spelling errors.
5. Be Creative when sending some a message or asking out
When you are sending that first message to someone also know as ice breaking, be little bit more creative and perhaps point out something interesting that you noted on her profile. Don't simply say, "Hey Girl, I think you are pretty hot, wanna hangout". Every guy probably says the same thing that she is hot and what makes you so special. Also please don't ask her number in the first message. The girl barely knows you and is in no way going to give you her number without even knowing you first. If she is interested in you, you won't even have to ask for the number, she will give it to you herself.
