So this is my best topic to blog about: dumb-obvious-naive-time wasting studies. And today's study is
"Female touch can influence decisions, behavior". I find it very amusing that these scientists spend so much time and effort to find something that is just a common sense or well observed behavior. Come on now, I think every man's decisions, behavior would change with a gentle touch of a woman's hands. It's because that gentle touch stops men's normal brain function. Our brains stops make sound decisions and start focusing on only one thing. I don't need to elaborate on that one thing I believe.
But then I think I cannot really blame these scientists for conducting such experiments. Most of them probably never experienced female touch in their own lives.
The experiments studied men's decision making about investments where more men who were patted or touched by women were willing to take riskier bets rather than a safer alternative.
Well, I would say that men aren't really thinking about their investment in "money" when a women is touching them. Heck, they wouldn't even care if they lost all their money at the given moment.
However the saddest part of the study was that they got the reasoning behind this behavior wrong. This what the scientists concluded.
"A simple pat on the back of the shoulder by a female in a way that connotes support may evoke feelings that are similar to the sense of security afforded by a mother's comforting touch in infancy"
Now I didn't do any survey on this but I can certainly guarantee you that most men in that study didn't feel the motherly comfort when touched by the women.So my advice to the scientists is that stop wasting your time into studying things that every guy who had normal relationship in his life already knows about.
